About Voyces

Voyces is the primary ensemble of The Choral Collective and champions contemporary choral music. Voyces performs a series of concerts each year featuring exciting and challenging repertoire and extends the reach of the genre by performing with artists such as Björk, Adele, and Katie Noonan, and collaborating with other ensembles like the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the West Australian Youth Orchestra, and Perth Festival.

Auditions are open for our 2025/26 ensemble.

Where and when are the auditions?

Auditions for our 2025/26 ensemble will be held on:

• Saturday, 7 December 2024, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
• Sunday, 8 December 2024, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Auditions will take place in the Cultural Centre at Trinity College, 2 Trinity Avenue, East Perth. A member of The Choral Collective team will be on hand to assist you with finding the venue if needed.

What is involved in the audition?

Your audition will include the following individual and ensemble elements. You may also be required to perform a range check and answer questions about your choral experience.

Prepared Song

This can be any unaccompanied piece you choose and should reflect your voice type and technical capabilites.

Technical Work

2 small graded reading activities, 1 pitch & 1 rhythmic which you will receive at your audition.

Ensemble Piece

The ensemble piece will be suitable for any voice configuration and will be given to you on the day. It will be performed with the other two people auditioning during the same 30-minute audition slot. You will have time to prepare the piece as a group and present it together at the end of the 30-minute audition slot.

Availability

To ensure all sections have the required numbers, Robert may ask about your availability for the 2025 seasons. Below are the season dates:

Season 1: February – May
Season 2: June – September
Season 3: October – December

With a few exceptions, Voyces rehearses every Tuesday night, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm during each season.

Bookings

Auditions are held in 30-minute blocks, with up to three auditionees in each block. All individual components will be completed first, with the ensemble portion taking place towards the end of the block. All auditionees are required to stay for the full 30-minute block.
